regret

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

In my learning and research process, I stumbled upon this post Blogger vs. Wordpress and it made me think hard.

I have had so much dilemma because of Wordpress’ restrictions (Cbox, Themes, and other third party widgets).  It was because of the recent news that they have started to delete blogs that practice pro-blogging (paid or sponsored posts) that I fully regretted transferring to Wordpress.  It was something that I was considering before but now have to look for other options like own domain & hosting in order to make the most of blogging.

Blogger has changed since I left it.  It’s getting a bit similar to Wordpress except it still gives its users freedom to edit the CSS template, add 3rd party widgets and get this, free domain mapping!!!

Alright…alright… it hasn’t been that bad.  In fairness, Wordpress takes care of its users.  The dashboard is so user-friendly and simple.  They have so many templates to choose from.  I guess they have a reason for restricting widgets…especially for those who don’t really know how harmful they can be.

So, should I shift? We’ll see.

hosting

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

On my birthday, I purchased the domain Maeyonnaise.com as a gift to myself.  I also tried some hosting services with 30 day money back guarantee.  I ended up cancelling the first one after just 1 full day because I couldn’t make out which was the head or the tail of the whole thing.  Their system was just way too advanced for me.  Good thing I was able to figure out how to keep a parked domain with them.

Sheesh! I did so much reading.  Up till now, I am still reading and learning.  I love it though because it is something new for me.   If ever you find me having a full blown website, etc… That would be the fruit of all my hard work!  I hope that will be in a month. hehehe.  Good luck to me!!! :)

I received some interesting comments from my last post. They were not aware that the original post was even more permanent than the edited one that I left behind.

Below was the original post:

I have considered it times before, it was only last night that I was completely convinced that It’s time.

It is time to say Adieu to this blog…

I did realize that I just recently acquired a domain which I will eventually direct to our wedding blog/site in time.

For the mean time, let me say my farewell to the blogging world. It has been an amazing journey. I

just realized that I have been blogging since October 2004!!! That’s more than 3 years!!!! WOW!!!

Anyway, for very good reasons… I am moving on and sadly, need to leave this blog behind.

For those who have taken the time to visit, leave a note and bring an inspiring smile every now and then…. THANK YOU! It totally made this journey something to remember. :)

I will leave the floor to those who I feel very much deserve your continued reading… like my fave reads - Yevka, Rene, Regina, Gracia and Mahryska

You may ask why I all of a sudden thought of this..and then pulled it out… I will tell you next time… In perfect time.

Raffles Dubai

Friday, January 25th, 2008

We attended another Post Company Christmas party.  We were treated to a dinner at the new Raffles Hotel, next to Wafi City.  Well, of course, it was exciting to have a chance to visit a new place and somewhere quite well known.

It was at Azur that we ate.  The buffet spread was alright.  I had better. I loved the Sushis though.  Yum!!!

The interiors were quite grand and definitely very “Dubai”-like.  The hotel felt quiet & empty… this is maybe because their restaurants were well tucked into their corners. One can easily get lost there! hehehe.  I think they are lacking on signs to direct guests.  Good thing, they make up for it by having very helpful staff around. :)
