Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Joy tagged me with this meme two weeks ago.   Like her, I am always supportive of this too. This is normally held in October in Dubai.  I wish that these things were not restricted to particular months but instead become a regular thing.  Anyway, hope even in this simple way, it helps in spreading the word Breast Cancer Awareness’ for the month of June.

• The first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman’s mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present.

• Risks for breast cancer include a family history, atypical hyperplasia, delaying pregnancy until after age 30 or never becoming pregnant, early menstruation (before age 12), late menopause (after age 55), current use or use in the last ten years of oral contraceptives, and daily consumption of alcohol.

• Early detection of breast cancer, through monthly breast self-exam and particularly yearly mammography after age 40, offers the best chance for survival.

• Ninety-six percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years.

• Over eighty percent of breast lumps are not cancerous, but benign such as fibrocystic breast disease.

• You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.

You can help the lives of many women by spreading the word aboutThe Breast Cancer Site pink button as many times as you can. If The Breast Cancer Site receives 8 million clicks on the pink button in June, their premier sponsor -Bare Necessities- will donate $10,000 for more free mammograms. CLICK the pink button today!

Please help spread the word too!

Just 8

I’ve been tagged by Gracia and Queensy so there was no escape in doing this meme.

Here are the rules:

1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these rules.
3. At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people and include their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment and tell them they’ve been tagged, and to read your blog.

My 8 Random facts/habits:

  1. I am not Addiction prone.  I regularly assess myself and once I put it into my head to do or not to do something, there is nothing I cannot go cold turkey on.
  2. I love trying almost everything I can think of.  It just have to keep me interested for quite a while as I also can get bored easily.
  3. I am a multi-tasker by nature.  I don’t think I have ever found myself doing only 1 thing at a time.  The more I accomplish in a span of time, the happier I am. J
  4. Once I distance myself with someone it is almost impossible to bring back how it used to be.  (shrug) I give them fair chances until I finally give up. :(
  5. When I buy undies, I make sure I can mix & match the items with each other so that I don’t have to wear the same pair all the time. J  I need variety. Hehehe.
  6. When I know what I want, I am very particularly detailed about it.  So I guess when I make wishes (or prayers) they get easily answered coz it’s very specific. :p
  7. I am into sauces.  To me, when there is a perfectly matched sauce on the side, be sure that I will have a very healthy appetite. For Pinoy dishes, calamansi with patis is a sure winner!  Catsup with mayo for french fries..or choco sundae will also do!,  Honey mustard with cheddar cheese for chili fries, etc.
  8. When I am concentrating on doing something, I really prefer not to be interrupted, otherwise, I will listen to you but not take my eyes off what I am doing…but I will know what you said. I multi-task remember?!

My 8 tags (Ignore if you’ve done this before, unless you feel like doing it again J ): Yevka (nagawa mo nab a ito?), Scheela (you can do while Beau is sleeping hehehe), Heidi (I still owe you a tag. Isusunod ko na po yun.  It’s more apt right now!), Joy, Chie (para double target at gawin agad :p ), PoidyKatrina and Che Che

Window Shopper?!

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

You’re a Window Shopper!

You know that shopping’s a blast, but you prefer to save your money
You hardly ever give into an impulse buy, unless it’s a total steal
You’ve always got the most money of your friends - and you never have to borrow
And you’ve got a nice wardrobe too … of classic pieces that last years!

What happened to me? I seem to have changed from a “if I can’t choose Buy all” shopper to a Window Shopper? hahahahaha! I just got married. Imagine when we have a baby!!!

You Are a Colon

You are very orderly and fact driven.
You aren’t concerned much with theories or dreams… only what’s true or untrue.

You are brilliant and incredibly learned. Anything you know is well researched.
You like to make lists and sort through things step by step. You aren’t subject to whim or emotions.

Your friends see you as a constant source of knowledge and advice.
(But they are a little sick of you being right all of the time!)

You excel in: Leadership positions

You get along best with: The Semi-Colon
