Since I am in the last stretch of my pregnancy, walking at least 30 minutes a day is a MUST! They say, it will help in having a smoother delivery (if there is such a thing). Anyway, malls are the most convenient places to walk due to the unpredictable weather outside. There are days when suddenly it gets uncomfortably humid after days or even a week of cool, comfy weather. So instead of playing guessing game with the weather, I’d rather go to the mall and do the walking there. At least, I don’t notice that i have walked so much because my eyes are distracted from all the window shopping.
The other night, I asked hubby to accompany me walking at IKEA. It is my most fave shop for home stuff. While wandering around, we passed by some bamboo shades. I have always had an inclination to buy these things but never buy them. I guess because at home we are more used to curtains. I personally prefer bamboo shades as I think they are easier to maintain. You just have to dust them or wipe them or even just vaccuum them. No need to take them out of the rail, wash them and maybe even iron them.
Hubby doesn’t like them because he prefers to have slightly heavy and dark drapes for our balcony door. This is because he doesn’t want to be woken up too early by the sun on days when he needs to sleep in like on weekends.
Someday, when we have our own house and a nice living room, I will definitely put bamboo shades. It just gives a cooler and tropical feel to the living room. At some point, I think it gives me the feeling that I am on holiday… therefore, making me feel more relaxed. Someday….

As a compromise you could still use bamboo shades and have curtains - but then there’s even more cleaning like you said hehe
