Why envy…when you can share?!

I have a very good friend who have taken the “Bakasyonista” role to a new level. He is on holiday in Europe for 2 months while in transit to his new life in Canada. He spends his weekends in different countries and has adventures in such great places in the most perfect time -SUMMER. What more, he just SMSed me yesterday saying that they will be watching Madonna’s concert on the 30th August! Wow! . I absolutely envy him right now. Funny, the moment I said that to myself, “envy”, I remembered something he told me before. He told me that he envied me too when I used to tell him about my travels. Then I realized that every one has their own “time” for things. I had my “travel time” before and now it’s “family time”. I am happy to say that I am pleased in seeing pictures of his adventures and receiving SMS about them. I feel that I get a chance to see and experience those places through him. I love it!

If I let Envy take over, I would feel miserable knowing that he is having a great life of adventure and I cannot compete nor keep up. That’s the deadly thing about envy, you seem to feel the need to always compare, compete and keep up when really all you have to do is be Genuinely Happy for that person and share the joys of their experiences through them.

I am truly grateful for his friendship. Even when he was here and we were caught up in our own hectic lives, he never failed to say hi and catch up. He always makes me feel like he is always there to be a true friend – supportive and even tell me when I am out of line. Now, even when he’s miles away and having the time of his life, he still remembers to touch base and somehow remind me that our friendship still stands. I truly am so happy for him right now because he is finally living the life he’s been dreaming of for so long. Knowing that he is absolutely thrilled, relaxed and content right now… makes me feel the same.

To Tony… I am definitely blessed to have you as a friend. I hope that when you reach your destination, the new life and challenges will not make you forget those you have left behind in Dubai. Miss yah! Hope someday, we get to meet up again and catch up!
