Abu Dhabi Carnage?

The first thing that greeted us early yesterday was the horrific news about this major road accident involving 60 cars along the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway. The radio announcer kept repeating these news and even referred to it as “carnage”. For more info, please click here.

This is mainly the result of speeding and not keeping a safe distance during (very low visibility) foggy weather conditions. I wish drivers here are more responsible for themselves and others using the roads. It is a known fact that however safely you drive here, there will always be someone who will be careless and inconsiderate sometimes even downright crazy that would cause accidents. It is not surprising that road accident is one of the main causes of death in this country. Imagine if you are a safe driver, your survival instincts and alertness will be in it’s ultimate high whenever you are behind the wheel.. or even near the road for that matter. Now, you’ll know why I feel so exhausted whenever I am driving. Add to that the traffic and the Manual transmission of my PJ (Pajero).

Sigh. Anyway, here are some pictures that were circulating via email. I thought I share it with you.

sad. sad. sad. who do you blame? :ewan: i hope people (me, included) learn their lessons that things like *this* can happen, and that we should always be careful / smart drivers out there.

The sad part is I feel that they will just turn a blind us on this and continue driving as they please. Anyway, check out Gracious’ link… it goes to show that it’s not just a Dubai thing I guess. Although, come to think of it, when we were in Canada I was amazed at how disciplined drivers were. (Dunno now) AMAZING!
